Unit 9 -

Unit 9 - Chupacabras a Hoax? - Eric Aponte

A famous Latin American hoax is the Chupacabra's myth. This myth come from Puerto Rico but people said that this animal had been seen in other countries like Argentina, Perú, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panamá, Chile, República Dominicana, México, Venezuela and some regions in USA.Chupacabras is a creature that attack and kill other animals and sucks all their blood.

Legend started in 1992, when Puerto Rico's newspaper shows a lot of news about many animals killed. Your first name was "Vampiro de Moca" because in Moca town appeared the first animal killed. People don't have really proofs that prove the existence of this monster but a lot of them said they had to seen it.

Chupacabras attack many kinds of animals like dogs, cats, birds and in special goats and sheeps but it never had attacked humans. Many description have this creature, some people said this animal can have two legs, another said that it can be like a wild dog but scientific said Chupacabras had to be wild dogs.

I think that Chupacabras isn't real, it is a very wild animal. For me seeing is believeing.

Unit 9 - Sirens a Hoax? - Militza Macias

Most of the people imagine a beautiful girl with a fish tail when someone mentions the word Siren. It probably could happen because the movies. However, there are many books where the sirens are described like ugly and evil beings.

Not long time ago, some pictures were sent by e-mail showing a siren fossil, which was found in South-America supposedly. Some say that was found in Haiti; others, in Maracaibo; and others, in Malaysia. The fact is that nobody has confirmed this find and nobody has refused it. But, if this was been true, the sirens would have been definitively very ugly.

I am particularly skeptic about these photos. The body might have been made with bands and plaster, and the fins with plastic. Its eyes look like a fake. Its appearance makes the body naturalness very questionable. I think it is a hoax.

Unit 9 - Apollo Hoax - Felix Mejias

There is a theory about Apollo Moon missions. I think it could be a hoax; there is an opinión by David Percy, an Associate of the Royal Photografic Society, that suggests images were folked, because there are many inconsistencies and anomalies.

David Percy explains the following anomalies: illumination in shadow, different shadow directions and indentical backgrounds. According to David Percy, all these are reason to say that it was a hoax. I believe, it could be true.

Unit 9 - Spaceship Hoax - Nestor Arellano

May be we are not alone in this universe, It is possible, today this is a real mystery for everyone. A few decades ago in the United State in the area 57 might have been found a spaceship and aliens; but today this event is questionable.

About this picture I think is a real hoax, because if the aliens real exist, they don't come in spaceship like this.

I believe that people want to prove that the aliens have came and they doing pictures like this, I am not sure why they do that, probably for fame or money but it´s obvious that this mystery may be unsolvable for along time.

Unit 9 - Snowball Hoax Pic - Evaristo Da Costa

Have you ever seen a cat like this?

I´ve already seen big cats but none like this. I don´t know but a domestic cat so big isn´t normal.

This picture is really unbelievale, take a look to the cat legs and paws. It´s obvius that it´s from other picture. That picture seems to be digitally manipulated.

If you try to take a cat like this way the back´s cat look very straight.

There is no question, this picture is a hoax.

Unit 9 - Picture Hoaxes - Lucy Pires

There's no question, with technology advances it's really easy to create hoaxes pictures.

The pictures below are very good examples of it.

The first picture about a shark must have been created using two pictures and then joined using software like Photoshop, I believe sharks don't live in bays like in the picture, and some stories about sharks had to have been caused by the famous 80's film called Shark.

The second picture about twin towers and the terrible September 11 attack, I guess it could be a hoax, because it's almost impossible any picture camera could be safe with the towers collapse and fire--again I think this picture must have been created joining two or more pictures.

The Third it's an interesting picture, because it's really difficult to our Latin-American society to think this could be possible in a first world country. I can't imagine a bus buried in a London street, but everything it's possible and this picture might have been taken in a real situation.

Many people do this pictures for fun and then share with their partners using actual technologies (email, instant messaging, Web pages, blogs) and other people could think are real pictures.

Unit 9 - Bigfoot - Trina González

One case of HOAX is the legend or folklore of “Sasquatch” also named “Bigfoot” in parts of North America or “Yeti” in the Himalayas.
It could be one the most exploited stories for decades.
I present one of the pictures about the mysterious giant. Maybe you have heard about this abominable creature at sometime.

Many strange tales are told of the appearances this elusive hairy ape like creature.

It is among the weirdest of tribal legends or folklore. Some people have said that they had come face to face with the hairy giant who, according to them, was tall and muscular, prowling in the nude.

One characteristic of creature is that he is covered with black hair from head to foot except for a small space around the eyes. Finally, they said that the giant will stride leisurely into the nearby bushes or forest and disappear.

Legend says that the creature dwells in caves and subterranean caverns on the borders of lakes in the mountain or forest.

I suppose this story can be possible, but I really don’t know if the stories of “Sasquatch”, “Bigfoot” or “Yeti” are tricks or practical jokes were fabricated as tale for some movie, maybe without malice. But there is not real evidence that proves that the creature do exists.

Who knows?
